Welcome to nutritapp
Please read the terms and conditions set out below.
By using this app you agree to be bound by the these terms.
Terms and Conditions
The aim of the nutritapp website and app ("the app") is to help you to keep a track of your consumption of food.
The app is offered on an as-is and as-available basis. We reserve the right to restrict access to new users if the service becomes overwhelmed to such an extent the the user experience is adversely affected. We further reserve the right to restrict access to individual users if their use of the app results in excessive detrimental impact on the servers or other users.
The app is free to use and has no advertising or tracking. The data that is generated as you interact with the app will not be shared with anyone else.
Donations to contribute to the cost of running the app are welcomed and gratefully received. Donating does not confer any additional or preferential services - all users receive the same service irrespective of their ability or desire to donate.
The nutrtitonal data used by the app is sourced from Open Food Facts and from McCance and Widdowson's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (published by the UK Government). Product images are sourced from Open Food Facts and nutritapp user submissions.
The data is presented by nutritapp from these sources in good faith - but users should be aware that most of the data is provided by the worldwide community of Open Food Facts contributors. By using this app you agree to indemnify nutritapp and Open Food Facts against any negative outcome you may experience arising from the use of this app (e.g. in the case of disputed or inaccurate nutritional data).
Registration
Registration is not required to use the app. A unique ID is saved to your device so keep track of your diary, preferences, uploads etc. It is strongly recommended you provide an email address as this will enable you to recover data (e.g. if you lose your mobile device).
Uploading Images
If nutritapp doesn't have an image for product you want to add to your diary, you will be invited to upload one using your mobile device's camera. If you upload, you agree to license nutritapp to use, modify and share the image on a Creative Commons Share Alike basis. If you provide a "Sharing Name" in the account tab, then an attribution will be made wherever the image is used. Nutritapp may in some circumstances share your image with the Open Food Facts project.
If you don't want images to be shared you can specify this for each upload you make.
If you upload illegal, pornographic, violent, hateful, misleading, deceptive or similar images then your account will be deleted and the relevant law enforcement authorities will be alerted as appropriate. Your IP address is recorded whenever you upload an image and shared images are only visible to other users after approval by nutritapp.
I Agree - Let's Get Started!
Local Storage When you start to use this app a unique id is stored on your device. This allows the app to "remember" your food diary entries, your favourites, your app settings and your contributions. Your preferred theme is also saved to local storage.
If you remove the ID then you will lose access to this saved data. If you want to be able to recover from such data loss, please provide an email address (see below). This will not be used for any purpose other than account and data recovery.
Email Address
Providing an email address is entirely optional. It will, however, enable you to move your data from one device to another or to have access to your data on more than one device.
Sharing Name
When you upload photos you agree to license them to nutritapp on a Share Alike basis. This means nutritapp (and others) can use the images, modify them and share them with others. Your Sharing Name will be used to attribute the photos to you, as the original photographer. It must be unique.
